Wedding Videography

Recent!

I work with a very talented videographer, Molly Clay, shooting weddings since October, 2018. This is the highlight video from the most recent wedding, featuring me as the second shooter. My favorite moments to capture in weddings are those hidden gems where the bride's parents take a moment to dance....A close second is handheld moving detail shots :)

Up Late App State

In college, I was a part of the campus television station AppTV. I started as a camera operator, and by my junior year, I was writing for this show. I was promoted to producer for my final semester. AppTV is a small staff, so the producers take on many large roles for their shows, often serving as the director the (calling the shots in the studio during taping), and the head editor. This show was a wonderful yet challenging experience, as we were entirely student run and the only comedy show on the channel at the time. We were careful to appeal to our target audience (college students) while remaining within the boundaries of the station.

Season 3, Episode 3

Here is an episode of Up Late that is one of my favorites. It's quirky and includes interviews of the good people of Boone, a segment which has to be one of my favorite editing projects.

Bloopers

Another thing we tried to do with this show is have a social media presence, and one way we did that was with promos on Snapchat. These appeared on the AppTV Snapchat and allowed viewers to swipe up to watch the show. For this promo, I was the director and one of two editors.

NC Aquarium at Roanoke Island

I spent a summer serving as a videographer for the NC Aquarium at Roanoke Island.  During my time there, I created fifteen different videos to cover and promote aquarium events such as sea turtle releases, summer camps, dive shows, and shark feedings. Below are a few of those!

Aquarium

By the end of my summer, I wanted to create something that encompassed all the things the aquarium has to offer. This video is a collection of favorite moments and highlights of many of the wonderful elements of the aquarium. I shot and edited all of this footage aside from the alligator feeding shot that was captured by the aquarium's full-time videographer Rick Eller. Additionally, I arranged the music using MIDI tracks over an ambiance track.

Sea Turtle Release

These events I covered on my own. I usually went out with two cameras and pushed my way through crowds of people to capture the release of turtles that had spent several months in rehabilitation at the aquarium. These videos were wildly popular at the aquarium because sea turtle protection is very important to locals in the Outer Banks. I was honored to be able to capture events that were so dear to the community so more people could experience them.

Overnight

When I offered to do this project for the aquarium, I had an idea that I wanted it to be very text heavy, since there was lots of information the education staff wanted conveyed about the overnights that the aquarium offered. Also, since the target audience was parents with kids, I wanted it to be fun and whimsical. After writing a script, shooting this event, and editing it together, I started studying Adobe After Effects and quickly made myself familiar with it. I also used it to create the moving graphic of the aquarium logo, which I used for the rest of the videos following this one. Here is the result :)

SomeInsight

Recent!

I just started a personal development outlet called SomeInsight. It's brand new -- just a few months old -- but I'm very excited to see where it goes. You can check out @someinsight on Instagram to see some of my other work (including my writing).

Here is some content featuring recorded-in-the-car audio!

Live @ RFG

AppTV interns also get to pick up one - time projects in addition to their shows. This was a project I picked up. Live @ RFG is a collaboration between the Communication Department and the Hayes School of Music where local artists are featured and recorded by music students and AppTV interns. For this episode, I was the producer, editor, and DP.  The vision for this particular episode was to take an artist out of the studio and record them in a vastly different setting. So here's Live @ RFG featuring Sam Henjum Anderson.
